Lloyd decided to try gymnastic in Jr. high school just for fun and fell in love with it. He ended up doing competitive gymnastics through Jr. high and high school. His first opportunity to teach gymnastics was after moving from Philadelphia to Pensacola, FL where he found a facility to polish his skills and the owner of that gym saw more in Lloyd's future. The sport in general taught Lloyd commitment, work ethic, & dedication. His advice to young athletes is that if you put others first then your blessings will come later!

Her passion for coaching cheer was driven by her desire to give kids the same opportunities she had. Being an athlete taught her discipline that has resulted in her being a humble individual. From the age of 3 Krissy participated in gymnastics and throughout the years began to dabble in additional sports. By 15 she began coaching all the way through college. She also gained the most experience when working as an instructor for UCA.  Krissy believes that playing for a team since she was 4 years old has illustrated for her that sports are more than a personal gain. It has helped her in communication skills & working with others. Even when an outcome isn't what we worked for, it helped her learn how to address where & what she lacked & start to build up.  Krissy wants young athletes to know that a loss isn't a true loss if you gain something from it. The ability to participate on a team is the ultimate win! Your job is never done, you can always  improve in something!

However, after her gymnastics commitments she transitioned over to cheer! She wouldn't be who she is today without sports, coaches' advice, and the life lessons it has taught her. Since her first coaching job at 14, Carianne believes if you love something, dedicate yourself and bet the best you can be. The best advice she has ever received is "the best leaders are those who dedicate themselves and their talents to serving others".

Sonterrica started at the age of 6 in gymnastics and quickly developed an interest in all-stars. After joining her first team, cheer carried her through high school. She then had the opportunity to further her cheerleading career at UAB from 2017 - 2020. Today, Sonterrica has a desire to give back to the sport that gave her so many lifelong experiences, lessons, and qualities. Being a part of a sports team has helped her develop a sense of purpose in everything that she does. Coaching allows her to do impact others by motivating and teaching others how to excel in the sport both mentally and physically. Failure is not always easy to deal with but is necessary to succeed. It gives you the knowledge and strength required to not only reach success but maintain it. Her best piece of advice to young athletes is "hard work beats talent when talent hardly works".

The biggest lesson she has learned through cheer is how to communicate with people and that you can meet any goals if you work hard enough for them. Becoming a cheer coach was originally  influenced by her coaches growing up and her love for helping other girls in school. She admired her coaches and always wanted to be just like them. Kayla's advice for young athletes is to remind them that you never grow when you are comfortable; change happens once you leave your comfort zone!

Lauren’s parents encouraged her to be active at a very young age which led her into taking dance and then gymnastics for which she competed for years. Lauren didn’t do cheer until high school and the sport changed her life. As she finished her cheer career in high school Lauren didn’t want that to be the end of her passion, so she quickly transitioned to a coach. Sports overall taught her key characteristics like discipline and persistence that led to success in school and life. She also learned the significance of teamwork and patience. She wants other young athletes to experience the same. The best piece of advice Lauren received is to have fun and maintain professionalism! That phrase is applicable to so many things in life and plays a role in everything she does.

When Ayden was a little girl, she initially started out in competitive gymnastics but in 5th grade she made the transition to competitive cheer and discovered her true passion. Her beginning as a coach started with a mini level 1 team. She immediately fell in love with helping kids and growing their skill levels. Participating in sports has showed her to be a hard worker, be dedicated to it, and do something you love. Ayden believes that sports has also made her not take things for granted and to enjoy every moment. Cheer specifically puts you through so many obstacles and makes you mentally stronger. She has learned to never give up and to push yourself to the best of your abilities because it only makes you physically and mentally stronger.  The best advise Ayden shares with young athletes is to “not think too much and just do it” and “God always has a plan so trust it”.

Reia started as a gymnast at the age of 4 and dedicated 9 years before switching to cheerleading! Sports overall taught her discipline and how to work with a team. She has also learned life lessons that shaped her into the person she is today. Reia believes a team will only succeed if everyone does their part. You cannot slack off and expect everyone else to pick up the slack. As soon as Reia was old enough to get a job she went right into coaching. As a child she always looked up to her coaches and appreciated them so much. The coaches became her role models and as Reia got a little older she knew that she wanted to be that same role model to other young, inspired athletes. Her advice to youth is that you never know when the opportunity to do something will be gone, so don't hesitate to seize your moment now!

Shelley earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Augusta University after obtaining her Bachelors in Exercise Science from The University of Georgia. She is also a Sports Certified Specialist with a focus in treating the female athlete. Shelley was introduced to sports at a young age and later competed through 10 years of gymnastics, dedicating 20 hours a week to training and preparation. When her gymnastics career ended, it opened up other doors for her to try sports such as cheerleading, cross country, track and tennis. Shelley ended up going on to become a cheerleader for The University of Georgia. Participating in sports growing up allowed her to learn at an early age what drive and motivation as well as goal setting can do for you. "The things I am most proud of now, are the things I put the most thought, time, and dedication into" Shelley says. The best advice Shelley has received is to find your passion and go after it. "Fall in love with the journey as much as the outcome and you’ll win every time."

It all started with karate because of the physical aspect but from that he learned discipline and that really played a part in how I carry myself today.   Prior coaches led him to coach. The way they positively touched his life, he too wants to impact others the same by helping them reach their full potential.  Sports overall has taught Darius to set goals and try to obtain then surpass them.   The best lesson he has learned through athletics is you get out what you put in. The best advice he received is “nothing beats a failure but try.”

From middle school track & field to a college scholarship sports played a huge role in developing KD's character and ability to work as a team player. Due to his background in Biochemistry and his passion for track and sports in general is what lead him to a career in coaching.  The biggest lesson he has learned through the commitment to sports is that the pain you feel now at practice is nothing compared to the glory you feel when you win. You are your own biggest critic/competition. As long as you strive to be better than you yesterday, you become closer to achieving your goals.

Yantasia knows that athletics teach children a sense of teamwork, dedication, motivation, and self-discipline and therefore aid children to be positive members in society. She believes BlackWatch does an amazing job at creating an environment and atmosphere that promotes being the best athlete possible, both physically and mentally. There is no room for failure, only wins and lessons learned. To aid members in their endeavors to become better people, I lean on wanting them to see their success for themselves. To see something as being tangible is such an important aid in creating the life and becoming the person you are meant to be because it allows you to place yourself in the position you are working to obtain, motivating you to do whatever it takes to live in your goals. The best piece of advice Yantasia has ever received is to “be intentional in everything you do”. Your next step should have a purpose, your next thought should have action following it. Every move you make should be powerful.

Jenna was a gymnast since a toddler and chose to try cheerleading in middle school. It was a natural transition and once she reached high school, she competed, winning national championship jackets along the way. Cheering ultimately lead her to be recruited by Samford University’s rowing team as a coxswain. Coxswains are responsible for being loud, leading a group and are naturally short. She quickly learned the new sport and became the head coach for the 2021 season. Jenna’s standard while growing up was that others may be naturally better than her, but there is no excuse for anyone to work harder than her. She would share that advice with young girls today because you control you and hard work does out do talent.
